What is a Money Mindset?
A money mindset is the beliefs, feelings, attitudes that you subconsciously develop towards money. It has nothing to do with how much you have, but it has everything to do with what you do have. Your money mindset is the foundation for your money habits. Without a positive money mindset, even a million financial literacy tips can be futile!
How Do We Develop Money Mindsets?
Initially, our parents, guardians, or those in charge of raising us during the early stages of our lives inform our money mindsets. Next, the environment you’re born into and raised into and the things you’re exposed to can inform your money mindset. The timing in which you’re born (economy, war), Lastly, personal experiences can inform your money mindset.
What Are Different Types of Money Mindsets?
- Scarcity, lack, negative, or unhealthy money mindset
- Wealthy, positive, healthy, or abundance money mindset
Traits of A Positive Money Mindset
A positive money mindset believes that there’s room for more. It believes that value creates wealth and that money works for you and not the other way around.
An abundance money mindset asks for help when it is needed. It acknowledges that it is okay to build one step at a time.
It is my hope that this foundational episode helps you unpack what your money mindset is, and understand the circumstances around how you developed that mindset.
