About Us

Rich is definitely NOT often associated with immigrants. we can in fact attain financial independence, live full colorful lives, and maintain our identities and be meaningful forces for good in the countries that we now call home.

WE'RE ABOUT YOU!

We exist to position aspiring immigrants, 1st and 2nd generation immigrants to attain financial independence, and live fully. The Rich Immigrant was founded by Dee Olateru and created with the immigrant journey, joys, and challenges in mind. It was created to be what I wish existed when I moved to the United States 18 years ago, and it is what we need to thrive as a community of 1st and 2nd generation immigrants. Pushed into action by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our communities, we kicked off the journey with you in June 2020 on Instagram, and in July 2020 we launched The Rich Immigrant podcast. Whether you like pictures, audio, or long text form, we are here for you! This website is our home, a space where it all comes together for you!

  • 02 LET'S COMMIT TO LEARNING AND UNLEARNING

We start by assessing the very foundation of our money habits: our money mindset. Initially, our money mindsets are initially developed subconsciously and are largely informed by our parents/guardians, the environment we are born into, what we are exposed to, and the time in which we are born and raised. We are committed to unlearning money habits that stem from scarcity or a negative money mindset. If we are honest, most of us have a lot of unlearning to do. As we shed bad honey habits, we intentionally build and provide you with the tools to learn and grow into an abundance mindset. To identify the patterns that may have shaped your money mindset, we recommend that everyone starts by listening to the very first episode of the podcast: What Is Your Money Mindset?

  • 03 LIVING FULLY AND AUTHENTICALLY

Attaining financial freedom as immigrants is only part of the goal. It is not the ultimate goal. Here, we'll challenge you to be grounded in your why. We'll challenge you to know why you're building wealth. We believe that your why should be bigger than you and your total net worth number. We'll challenge how you show up in the world, how you contribute to both your home and adopted country.
